Huntsville, better known as “The Rocket City,” is located in North Alabama and is a vibrant community with rich history and a thriving downtown business district.

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) serves this dynamic city from its central location near the heart of downtown and the historic districts, providing professional law enforcement services across three precincts. With over 400 sworn officers and more than 200 civilian personnel, HPD patrols an area of 213 square miles, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.

HPD is a modern, professional law enforcement organization that leverages advanced technology, state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive training programs to deliver effective policing. The department is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), reflecting its commitment to excellence and adherence to the highest standards in law enforcement.
