The Huntsville Police Department accepts applications from Alabama POST-certified (APOSTC) officers to join our team as Lateral Entry Officers. APOSTC-certified police officers with a minimum of two years of service are encouraged to apply.
We are actively recruiting certified police officers from other states who have at least two years of sworn experience and meet APOSTC criteria. Qualified applicants will be contacted by department personnel to schedule the full selection process, which includes the APOSTC physical agility test, interview, polygraph, medical screening and drug test.
Final selections are made by the Chief of Police, ensuring that each new officer meets the high standards of professionalism and dedication that define the Huntsville Police Department.
